Imam Hassan Al-Askari (A.S) has said: The signs of a believer are five:
• Performing fifty-one rakats of salat daily,
Reciting Ziyarat of Arbaeen,
• Wearing a ring in the right hand,
• Placing the forehead on dust [during sajda], and
• Saying "Bismillah al-rahman al-rahim" aloud in salaa.”‌ al-a'mal, p. 589, as stated [by Ibn Tawus]
 
Imam Hassan Al-Askari (A.S) includes the performance of Ziyarat of Arbaeen as one of the five marks for a believer, in addition to reciting 51 rakats of salat, audible recitation of Bismillah, wearing a ring on one’s right hand and doing sajda on dust.

Ruqayya bent. al-Ḥusayn (Arabic: رُقَیَّة بنت الحُسَین), according to reports, was one of the daughters of Imam al-Husayn (a) who was present at the tragedy of Karbala and was amongst the captives that was taken to Syria. According to reports, it was during this captivity in Syria that led to her martyrdom at the tender age of three. Currently there exists a mausoleum for her in the city of Damascus, Syria.

However, about this daughter of the Imam (a) differences exist concerning her name and the way she was martyred.
In mentioning the names of the children of Imam al-Husayn (a), al-Shaykh al-Mufid only mentions that he (a) had two daughters by the names of Fatima and Sukayna . However, Muhammad b. Talha al-Shafi'i mentions that Imam al-Husayn (a) had four daughters and that Zaynab, Sukayna and Fatima were the names of three of the daughters. He believed that this opinion was the generally accepted opinion and that the opinion of the two daughters was not the generally accepted opinion. As can be noticed, he did not bring a name for the fourth daughter, so it should be sought in other books.

 

Ibn Funduq in Lubab al-ansab writes, "No children of Husayn (a) were left alive except Imam Zayn al-'Abidin (a), Fatima, Sukayna and Ruqayya. In another place, while counting the children of Imam al-Husayn (a) he mentions the names of the daughters of Imam al-Husayn (a) as Fatima, Sukayna, Zaynab, Umm Kulthum and adds that Zaynab and Umm Kulthum passed away in their childhoods.

 

Najm al-Din al-Tabasi, by comparing the report of Ibn Funduq with the one found in Matalib al-sa'ul, comes to the conclusion that the name of Imam al-Husayn's (a) fourth daughter was Ruqayya and that her Kunya was Umm Kulthum.

 

Another report that mentions the name of Ruqayya is that in some manuscripts of the book al-Luhuf, when Imam al-Husayn (a) bids farewell to his family members, he says the following, "O my sisters! O Umm Kulthum! O Zaynab! O Ruqayya! O Fatima! and O Rabab! Listen to me! When I am killed, do not hurt yourselves, do not scratch your faces and do not shout out profanities!"

 

 

 






 



The holy name of the Prophet (pbuh) is one of the most attractive Islamic phenomenon for all Muslims in the world, because it is about emotion and faith at the same time. Thus, the power of remembering this name, in different matters concerning Muslims, is much more than many other Islamic phenomena which rely solely on faith but do not arouse emotions.
As a result, many of the previous, great, Muslim intellectuals have said that the holy name of this superior personage, having faith in him, and keeping his memory alive can be the axis for the unity of the Muslims and their unity in practice. October 8, 1990

Ja'far Ibn Muhammad al-Sadiq (PBUH) narrated from his father that the Apostle of Allah (PBUHHF) said, "O Ali! If a servant worships Allah for a thousand years, Allah shall not accept from him except by means of your Wilaya and the Wilaya of the Imams in your offspring. And verily your Wilaya shall not be accepted except by means of keeping aloof from your enemies and the enemies of the Imams in your offspring. This is what Gabriel has informed me. 'Thus let him who will, believe (it), and let him who will, reject it


 

 

Imam Baqir (PBUH) said: ". Is religion other than love and hate?" He (PBUH) then recited, "But Allah has made you love the Faith and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made you hate disbelief, wickedness, and rebellion. Such indeed are those who grow in righteousness," and "They love those who migrate towards them," and "Say, 'If you truly love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. For Allah is forgiving, most merciful.'

 


 

We need to keep hope for divine relief, await the reappearance of al-Qa'im (PBUH) at any moment, and truly believe that Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH) is the only solution for our tragedies in the world. According to the traditions, this is the most virtuous struggle (Jihad) of the believers. A person faithfully living in expectation of Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH) works constantly at improving his spiritual state by acting upon the instructions of Ahl al-Bait (PBUT), working hard in obedience, and observing piety. In this manner, he persistently and increasingly makes himself more eligible to receive al-Qa'im (PBUH). The following Mutawatir Hadith is narrated with all these three wordings:

The Apostle of Allah (PBUHHF) said, "The best worship/deed/Jihad of my community is (awaiting the relief.






 

Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) said, "When the period of the suffering of the children of Israel was prolonged, they wailed and cried to Allah for 40 mornings. Thereupon, Allah revealed to Moses (PBUH) and Aaron (PBUH) to rescue them from the (hands of) Pharaoh. This way, He reduced the period of their hardship by 170 years." Then, the Imam (PBUH) continued,

"This is your case as well, and if you do the same Allah shall certainly relieve us However, if you avoid it, this matter (i.e., the calamity before al-Faraj) shall surely (continue up to its laststage.

Suffering is a hint to the believers that they should implore Allah with humility. Allah says in the Quran

Before you We sent towards many nations, and We afflicted them with suffering and(adversity, that they might beseech (Us) in humility.

If the majority of people on earth sincerely seek relief (al-Faraj) from Allah and drop their hope from all the fallible leaders, Allah may decide to sanction the early reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH) without need for the occurrence of many of the foretold signs.

Notice that we say, "Allah may decide," which means this is not an urgent reaction to people's action, but rather it is a matter of choice for Allah as is the case for all other actions of Allah. He does what He will

 

 

 


 

 

Imam Ali (PBUH)said the following in one of his sermons preserved

in Nahj al-Balagha

Look at the people of the Prophet's family. Adhere to their direction. Follow their" footsteps because they shall never let you out of guidance and shall never throw you into destruction. If they sit down, you sit down, and if they rise up you rise up. Do not go ahead of them for you will go astray, and do not fall behind them for you will perish."


 

Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) asked Fudhail Ibn Yasar,

"Do you assemble with your friends and narrate traditions?" He said, "Yes, may I be sacrificed for you." He (PBUH) said, "I hold dear such gatherings as it will revive our matter. May Allah have mercy on him who revives our matter. O Fudhail! He who remembers us or is reminded about us, and this brings tears to his eyes even to the extent of a wing of a fly, Allah will forgive (his sins even if they are greater than the foam of the sea.




 

The divine scholar and jurist Ayatullah Mirza Mahdi Esfahani (1365 A.H.) a great lover of Imam-e-Zaman (a.t.f.s.) in his letter to his student, Ayatullah Shaikh Muhammad Baqir Maleki Miyanji (1419 A.H.) pinpoints that the first duty of scholars is to open the door of the house of Ahl al-bayt (a.s.) before the Shias. He recommends them to talk about the Imamat and perfection of Imamof the age (a.t.f.s.)so that the people remain immune from the evil.

 In one part of this letter, he writes

O BROTHER, I ADVISE YOU; AND ONCE AGAIN I ADVISE YOU

TO INVITE THE ‘PEOPLE TOWARDS THE IMAM (A.S.) OF THE TIME, THEIR REFUGE AND SHELTER

.AND DIRECT THEIR HEARTS AND TONGUE TOWARDS HIM

 


 

 

Sayyed-ibn-Taoos says to his son, Sayyed Muhammad:

‘O my son, Muhammad! I,advise you  your brother and anyone who reads this book to deal correctly with the Almighty Allah and His messenger (s.a.w.a.) and to follow their recommendations and glad tidings about the advent of our master, Mahdi (a.t.f.s.). For, I have witnessed a plenty the words and deeds of numerous people in opposition to what Allah and His messenger wish so For instance, if he loses someone, a horse, a dirham or dinar, his thought will at once focus on them and he will earnestly strive to find them. But I have not found anyone so engrossed over the matter of delay in Imam’s advent as they are over such petty issues. Besides, they are not disturbed by Imam’s absence as they are by losing such petty things. So, how can such a person claim that he has recognized the right of the Almighty Allah and His messenger (s.a.w.a.) and that he believes in the Imamat of(Mahdi (a.t.f.s.)





 

ImamAli (PBUH) said the following in one of his sermons preserved in Nahj al-Balagha

Fudhail Ibn Yasar narrated:

I asked Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) about Allah's saying, "On the day that We shall call every group with their (respective) Imam." (17:71) The Imam (PBUH) replied, "O Fudhail! Know your Imam, for if you have real understanding of your Imam, postponement or advancement of this matter (al-Faraj) shall not hurt you. He who recognizes his Imam and dies before the rising of the holder of this matter, he is like the one who is sitting in his army. Nay, he is like the one who is sitting under his banner.



 






Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) said to his companions, "Be more hopeful on the things that you consider farfetched than that which you presume very likely. Verily, Musa Ibn Imran (PBUH) went to bring fire
 (to provide heat and light) for his family and when he came back to them he was an apostle, and this way, Allah rectified the matter of His servant and His Prophet, Musa (PBUH), within a night. In the same way, Allah shall treat al-Qa'im, the twelfth of the Imams (PBUT). He shall rectify his matter in one night and shall take him from complication and concealment to the light of relief and reappearance

AND PRAY ABUNDANTLY FOR HASTENING THE ‘FARAJ’ (RESPITE) [I.E. IMAM’S ADVENT,
 FOR THAT IS YOUR VERY RESPITE AND DELIVERANCE FROM ENTANGLEMENTS

 





 

FROM US ARE THE TWELVE GUIDED ONES.
THE FIRST OF THEM IS AMIR-UL- MU’MININ, ALI-IBN-ABITALIB AND THE LAST OF THEM IS THE NINTH FROM MY PROGENY WHO IS THE IMAM ESTABLISHING THE TRUTH.
 THROUGH HIM, THE ALMIGHTY ALLAH WILL MAKE ALIVE THE EARTH AFTER ITS DEATH AND WILL MAKE THE RIGHTEOUS RELIGION TO PREVAIL OVER ALL RELIGIONS, THOUGH THEENEMIES MAY AVERSE.
FOR HIM IS THE ‘GHAIBAH’ (OCCULTATION), DUE TO WHICH A GROUP WILL FORSAKE RELIGION WHILE ANOTHER GROUP WOULD REMAIN STEADFAST AND CONSEQUENTLY VEXED. THEY WOULD BE SCORNED AND SARCASTICALLY ADDRESSED:

‘IF YOU TELL THE TRUTH, THEN WHEN WILL THIS PROMISE TURN OUT TRUE?!

Know that anyone who forbears and tolerates the teasing of the enemies during occultation is like one who participates in the holy Jihad accompanying the Prophet (s.a.w.a.)

 


 


 

In the Ahl al-bayt (a.s.) school, it is fixed that the land has never been and shall never be void of a divine hujjah (proof) and leader and the people of every era are duty bound to recognize such a leader appointed by God and not to deny him. Uthman-ibnSaeed Amri who held representation for Imam Hadi, Imam Askari and Imam Mahdi (a.s.) says :
I was in the presence of Abu Muhammad Hasan-ibn-Ali (a.s.). He was inquired about the hadith narrated from his forefathers that the land would never remain void of Allah’s plea until the day of judgement and anyone who dies and does not recognize the Imam of his time has died the death of ignorance

In reply, Imam(a.s.)said: This is the true just as daylight is true

They said: O the offspring of the Messenger of Allah. Who is the hujjah and Imam after you?

He (a.s.) replied:

HE IS MY SON MUHAMMAD. HE IS THE IMAM AND HUJJAH AFTER ME. ANYONE WHO DIES AND DOES NOT RECOGNIZE HIM HAS DIED THE DEATH OF IGNORANCE





 

Umar Ibn Hanzala narrated :

Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) said, "There are five definite signs before the rising of alQa'im, which are:
(the rising of) al-Yamani and al-Sufyani, the (heavenly) cry/call (by Gabriel which will be heard all over the world), the murder of Nafs al-Zakiyya, and the sink (of the Sufyani army) into (the land of) al-Baydaa (located between Mecca and (Medina).

Even for some of the definite signs, Allah reserves al-Badaa, andmay change those of the definite wills that are not categorized as His Sunan or His promises. For instance, Allah informed us through His Apostle (PBUHHF) that before the reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH), al-Sufyani would certainly rise. This is a definite will, but it is not necessarily categorized as a promise. It is an insisted future event meaning that it is extremely unlikely that Allah cancels His permission for the occurrence of this event, though it may still be possible. According to the following tradition, Allah may make Badaa even in such insisted news.

 Dawud Ibn al-Qasim narrated:
We were with Imam al-Jawad (PBUH) when the issue of Sufyani was brought up and the traditions

which state that his advent is of the definite matters.
 I asked Imam al-Jawad (PBUH), "Does Allah make Badaa in the definite matters?"
He (PBUH) replied, "Yes."
 I said,"Then, we have a fear that Allah makes Badaa in (the reappearance of) al-Qa'im."
 The Imam replied, "al-Qa'im is of the promises, and Allah does not break His promises

Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (PBUH) said,
"The Qa'im shall not rise until after a great fear from people, the earthquake, afflictions,
trials, and the plague have been inflicted upon people, the war between Arabs,
great disagreement among people, breakups in their religion, change in their situation
 so that the wishers wish death every morning and night due to the enormity of what is observed, and the eating of people by people.
 The emergence of al-Qa'im (PBUH) shall be at the time of despair and hopelessness of people for finding any (other) opening or relief.

Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH) said to his companions,

Imam Ali Ibn Musa al-Ridha (PBUH) said:

 "As for news of the time (of reappearance) indeed my father told me having heard it from his father who heard it from his ancestors who heard it from  Amir al-Muminin (PBUH) that it was asked from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUHHF)
'O the Apostle of Allah! When will al-Qa'im from your offspring appear?
He said, 'His similitude is the similitude of the Hour (of resurrection).

None but He shall manifest it at its time. It is heavy for the heavens and the earth. It will not come to you except suddenly.

I asked Imam al-Jawad (PBUH) why Imam al-Mahdi (PBUH) is called al-Qa'im.
He (PBUH) replied, "Because he will rise after his remembrance is dead (in the society) and when most of the believers in his Imamat have turned back (from their belief)."
 I asked why he is called al-Muntadhar (the awaited).
He (PBUH) replied, "Because there shall be an occultation for him whose period shall be prolonged.
The sincere ones shall wait for him, the doubtful ones shall deny him, those who reject him shall ridicule his remembrance, and those who propose a time (for his reappearance) shall increase.

During that period, those who hasten in movement (al-Musta'jilun) shall perish, and (those who submit (to Allah'scommands and decrees)shall be saved."
